ECE hand planes combine Emmerich's meticulous quality with the economy of traditional hammer-set irons secured with wooden wedges. Heavy irons are solidly bedded for smooth, clean performance. Bodies and sole are long-wearing hornbeam. As in all Emmerich planes, the workmanship is simply outstanding.

This unique wooden plane is made for creating the tongue in sliding dovetail joints. Hornbeam sole and sloped at 10°. The iron is ground to match. An adjustable, 4-sided carbide knife spur helps reduce tear out across end grain. A steel fence determines the width of cut. The iron is set and adjusted with a hammer. The blade is bedded at 45 °.
